  Introduction
Sandhi’s work is focused on building sustainable income for artisans and producers by building livelihoods in the hand-crafted sector by connecting them to markets in a continuous manner. In this process, Sandhi identifies issues and provides assistance in areas like raw material sourcing, order management, quality and technical support through design and training. There are significant gaps and inefficiencies in the supply chain that make it difficult for mainstream markets and artisans to interact with each other effectively. Markets are increasingly becoming highly sensitive to consumer demands, using a demand driven strategy while sourcing and placing orders. A high premium is placed, therefore, on the quality of the resultant product, packaging and finishing. On the other hand, artisans and producer groups have to contend with issues of poor access to raw material, lack of adequate finances for working capital requirements and a poor understanding of design and commercial inputs.

Sandhi works with producers and evolves in consultation with them, the appropriate business models and the merchandising solutions to make the right connections between producers and markets. Having made the market connection, it becomes imperative to assist them in delivering consistently to market requirements by working jointly in the in the areas of:

  1. Design and Sampling
  2. Raw Material Sourcing
  3. Order Management
  4. Maintaining Quality
  5. Training on an on-going basis

Sandhi aims to bridge these gaps, seamlessly facilitating forward and backward linkages through the following services:

  1. Market intelligence
  2. Effective raw material sourcing
  3. Business planning
  4. Order and inventory management
  5. Quality and design support
  6. Costing and pricing
  7. Facilitating access to finance
